Mattie sure does look cute in her Christmas sweater. And those ears…well, who can resist a chuckle? The sweet little girl came to the Lycoming County SPCA the Saturday after Thanksgiving. While folks were beginning their Christmas shopping, Mattie was beginning a new chapter in her life. And thanks to you, this chapter was guaranteed to have a happy ending.

At first, Mattie was timid and wary of strangers. At thirteen years old, she was ready for stability and the love that a forever home brings. But before she could be placed for adoption, she needed some patching up. Her fur was sparse and missing on her back and down her legs, most likely from long-term flea damage. She also had quite a few rotten teeth that needed to be pulled. After her dental treatment, Mattie went to a wonderful foster home to recuperate. And, as you know, the love that she experienced there helped heal not just her body, but her soul. Her foster mom wrote a biography for her online profile that read “This senior girl is sweet and sassy! Mattie wants nothing more than to hang out on your lap under lots of warm fuzzy blankets, unless there are snacks, of course, then she will pop right out and be ready for her share. Speaking of sharing, Mattie is not a fan of sharing her food, her toys or her human, so she will need to be the only pet. If you are looking for a little doggie to snuggle with, to follow you around or to even boss you around a bit, this girl is definitely for you!”

After spending the holidays coming out of her shell at her foster home, Mattie’s new year’s wish came true: she was adopted! Now she can snuggle and boss around to her heart’s content, confident that she is safe and loved.
